San Rafael Swell Anticline portrait

Simply stunning. The San Rafael Swell Anticline runs 120 miles along the SE border of The Swell. The triangular shapes are called flatirons and they tower 1,000 feet out of the desert floor. After The Swell was pushed up by geological forces, water eroded these triangles and revealed the many colorful layers. These are some of the most remote and inaccessible areas in the world. It takes hours in a 4x4 at 3 mph through treacherous trails to get close. I think it's worth it.
